Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the backbone of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Hundreds of volunteers from across the country work together every day to drive progress and help to improve the lives of people with CF and their families. Please see below for a list of current volunteer opportunities.
Volunteer Roles
EVENTS:
From helping at the registration table to chairing fundraising events, CF Canada event volunteers play a key role in guaranteeing the success of the organization’s fundraising activities. The volunteer roles in this area are divided into two categories:
Day of event support (short-term): This is a short-term commitment where volunteers help by provided logistical support on the day of the event (registration, silent auctions, selling raffle tickets, etc.)
Event planning committees (mid/long-term): The members of an event planning committee provide the logistical decisions about fundraising events. Some examples include: taking on the role of the Chair of the Walk, or being in charge of securing sponsorships for an event.
CHAPTER LEADERSHIP ROLES:
Chapter leadership volunteers offer strategic and tactical guidance as they contribute with their professional and past volunteer experience to the development and growth of the local Chapter. Responsibilities may include recruiting other volunteers, assisting with the communications of the Chapter, fundraising, and securing sponsorships.
ADVOCATES:
CF Canada has built a thriving network of more than 250 advocacy volunteers in every province across Canada. Through our National Advocacy Network, CF Canada’s advocacy team provides training, mentoring and support, to help advocates build relationships with elected and non-elected officials to increase support for programs, services, and policies that improve access to medicines and quality CF care. Joining CF Canada’s advocacy network is a meaningful way to make your voice heard and to positively impact the lives and livelihoods of people with cystic fibrosis and their caregivers. SPOKESPEOPLE & SPEAKERS:
Many CF Canada volunteers have a personal connection to cystic fibrosis. Whether you are a patient, parent, sibling, grandparent or caregiver of someone who has CF, sharing your story is a powerful tool in creating awareness and driving change. Speakers may share their stories about living with cystic fibrosis formally at events or informally through online platforms or peer-to-peer conversations.
THIRD-PARTIES:
Third-party volunteers are a key part of expanding CF Canada’s reach in the broader cystic fibrosis and non-cystic fibrosis communities. From Shinerama, to Lawn Summer Nights, and Kin Canada, third-party volunteers carry out the important role of raising funds through their own events, or supporting other CF Canada volunteer initiatives.
